Op 14 november ontmoeten onderzoekers, bedrijfsexperten, tech-ondernemers, innovatoren en beleidsmakers elkaar om innovatie rond cybersecurity verder op te drijven. Vanuit het academisch top-onderzoek rond cybersecurity wordt sterk ingezet op economische en maatschappelijke valorisatie. Nauwe samenwerkingen met de bedrijfswereld leiden tot nieuwe inzichten, gedeelde kennis en praktische toepassingen. Discussie en feedback zorgen voor de juiste prioriteiten in de onderzoeksagenda.

Op deze ontmoetingsdag slaan we de brug tussen universiteit en bedrijfswereld om kennis en inzichten te delen. Op de agenda staan keynotes van cybersecurity bedrijfsexperten, getuigenissen van ondernemers en onderzoekers rond samenwerkingsverbanden, toelichting bij onderzoeksresultaten, en gelegenheid tot netwerking.

Stijn’s career started in 1995, when he founded NetVision (later, Ubizen), a pioneer in network security and managed security services. When the company was acquired by CyberTrust and later Verizon, Stijn was VP Security Solutions. From 2008 to 2018, he was CEO at LRM, an investment company owned by the Flemish Government. Innovator and business manager at heart, his interests include emerging technologies and their integration into business models, the triple helix model on innovation, coaching of young entrepreneurs, cybersecurity & IT risk management, and more. He is a visionary leader and believer in ‘the trinity of innovation: 5G, AI and hybrid cloud’, Stijn Bijnens has been at the helm of the Cegeka Group since 2019, until 2025. 

Ilias Chantzos leads the global privacy program of Broadcom across the company’s business units and regions. He also represents Broadcom before government bodies, national authorities, and international organisations in EMEA advising on public policy issues. Before, he spent 16 years in various government affairs and legal roles in Symantec. Before Symantec, he worked as legal and policy officer in the Directorate General Information Society of the European Commission focusing on information security policy. He covered the Council of Europe Cybercrime Convention and the Framework Decision on Attacks against Information Systems. In addition, he worked on several EU legislative initiatives relevant to information society and security, including directives on Privacy on Electronic Communications, the Data Retention Directive and the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA).

Bart Preneel is a full professor at KU Leuven, where he leads the COSIC research group. His expertise lies in cryptography, information security and privacy. He served as president of the IACR (International Association for Cryptologic Research) and is co-founder and chairman of the Board of LSEC. He is a member of the Permanent Stakeholders group of ENISA and of Academia Europaea. Preneel has delivered over 140 invited talks across 50 countries and received prestigious awards such as the RSA Award for Excellence in Mathematics, the IFIP TC11 Kristian Beckman award, and the ESORICS Outstanding Research Award. He frequently consults for industry and governments about security and privacy technologies.
