Peter Billiaert
I am a CIO with extensive experience across the automotive, high-tech, software, pharmaceutical, and construction sectors. I was originally trained as a software engineer and subsequently completed an MBA at the Open University in London. In a rapidly evolving IT and technology landscape, continuous learning is essential. Some of the certifications and programs that are particularly relevant in the AI context include: a Certificate in the Strategic Implementation of AI (MIT, 2025); a Data Science Certification (IBM, 2020); the CGEIT certification (Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT) from ISACA (2021), with a focus on governance, risk, and security.
Based on a long career at senior management level, including fifteen years as a CIO, my core strength lies in the strategic implementation of AI solutions. In practice, this involves supporting organizations with:
- identifying relevant and achievable AI objectives, taking into account the current strengths and limitations of existing AI models;
- assessing the maturity of the organization as a whole, or of specific processes, in view of meaningful AI adoption;
- evaluating the availability of critical enabling factors, in particular data readiness, as well as the organization’s openness to change and the human–machine interaction.
- My ultimate objective is to guide companies toward sound, sustainable, and profitable AI initiatives.
In this context, the focus is explicitly on business value, rather than isolated productivity gains. I support organizations in making informed strategic choices to leverage the impact of generative AI across the value chain and to build a durable competitive advantage through technology.
