Summer School on Artificial Intelligence & Creativity

The Summer School will bring together doctoral researchers, faculty, and experienced researchers and practitioners from different disciplines – such as computer science, statistics, engineering, life sciences, arts, design, law, social sciences and humanities – who are eager to expand their knowledge of AI and to explore its applications in creative domains, along with the questions that this poses.

The programme includes lectures, workshops, discussions, social events, and more.

The programme is designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and hands-on learning to address current challenges related to AI and Creativity. During the Summer School you will:

• Expand your knowledge of AI beyond your initial academic research
• Discover AI’s applications in creative domains
• Investigate the issues that arise at the intersection of AI and creativity
• Enhance your presentation and communication skills
• Enlarge your professional international network

Doctoral researchers are expected to be active participants by contributing to the programme with insights from their studies and research.

This year, University College Dublin is hosting three Summer Schools in the same week: in One Health, Sustainability, and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. If selected as a participant for one of these Summer Schools, you will have a unique opportunity to network with doctoral researchers from disciplines beyond your own, broadening your experience, widening your networking opportunities and deepening your understanding of Una Europa as an interdisciplinary, cross-border alliance.

The AI and Creativity Summer School will be held on-campus at University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland, from 15–19 June 2026. During the week, you can expect a vibrant programme of lectures, workshops, discussions, and other activities designed to allow the exploration of AI and creativity in an energetic and practical way.

Beyond the academic agenda, participants can look forward to a rich cultural and social programme and peer networking opportunities. As part of UCD’s hosting of three Una Europa Summer Schools simultaneously, participants will also take part in joint sessions, social events, and shared activities, offering a unique opportunity to connect with a wider network of doctoral researchers across disciplines.

Along with the in-person programme, there will be a compulsory online participation session held on 3 June. This session is currently in development but will likely take up to one half-day. The exact time is to be confirmed.

After successfully completing the Summer School, students may be eligible for 5 ECTS. Recognition of these ECTS credits as part of your study programme depends on the policies and procedures at your home university.
