With the ScienceVille component, the organisation wants to put more of a spotlight on scientific documentaries. Among others, documentaries about the biodiversity crisis, nuclear energy, psychoanalysis, artificial intelligence and the human body will be shown.
As a fully-fledged festival-within-a-festival, the documentaries are
accompanied by numerous other activities: lectures and workshops for the
general public, children, filmmakers and scientists, live experiments,
an exhibition on Artificial Intelligence, a film competition and even an
escape room.
The new category also awards its own prize with the National Lottery Prize for Best Scientific Documentary.
