Exploring the potential of generative AI in research and science communication
Lecture by Andres Algaba (VUB) on the potential of generative AI in (academic) research and its applications in writing, illustrating, and communicating research findings.
Practical information:
In this lunch talk, we will explore the potential opportunities and limitations of generative AI in (academic) research and science communication. Starting from a non-technical explanation of how popular generative AI models – such as ChatGPT – work, we will shed light on the opportunities and risks of this new technology. At the end of this talk, you will have gained insights on how AI can help you conduct research, write and illustrate results and even communicate about your findings!
Andres Algaba is an FWO postdoctoral researcher and guest lecturer at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. As a data scientist, he investigates artificial intelligence algorithms with a focus on their reliability and transparency. Aside from that, Andres contributes to shaping the policy on generative AI at the VUB and he was recently elected as a new member of the Jonge Academie.
