Context

Human beings and innovation have a strange relationship: people make innovations but innovations also determine what people do. In this lecture, we will reflect on this strange relationship to better understand why ethics in innovation is so challenging to implement and bring to fruition.

Learning objective(s)

  • Learning to recognise innovation as an open process where equal consideration must be given to the good weather scenario and all other unexpected scenarios.

Content

We explain, using examples, why it is impossible to fully predict how an innovation will be used by various users. We give a short stakeholder empathy exercise to make this clear and show you some methods to look at your innovation from a different perspective so you can more smoothly anticipate the unexpected.

2-hour lecture with interactive examples that require participation.
