Lesgevers / sprekers

Fredrik Heintz

Professor Fredrik Heintz is Head of the Division of Artificial Intelligence and Integrated Systems (AIICS), and leads the Reasoning and Learning unit (REAL) at the Department of Computer and Information Science (IDA).

Fosca Giannotti

Fosca Giannotti is Full Professor at Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa, Italy. Fosca Giannotti is a pioneering scientist in mobility data mining, social network analysis and privacy-preserving data mining. Fosca leads the Pisa KDD Lab - Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining Laboratory, a joint research initiative of the University of Pisa and ISTI-CNR, founded in 1994 as one of the earliest research lab on data mining. Fosca's research focus is on social mining from big data: smart cities, human dynamics, social and economic networks, ethics and trust, diffusion of innovations.

Salvatore Ruggieri

Salvatore Ruggieri is full professor at the Computer Science Department of the University of Pisa, Italy, where he teaches at the Master Program in Data Science and Business Informatics and at the National PhD Program in Artificial Intelligence for Society. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science (1999), whose thesis has been awarded by the Italian Chapter of EATCS as the best Ph.D. thesis in Theoretical Computer Science. He is senior member of the KDD LAB, a research group spanning from University of Pisa to the National Research Council to Scuola Normale Superiore), with research interests focused in the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science area.

Kacper Sokol

I hold a Master's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science and a doctorate in Computer Science from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom. Before joining the Medical Data Science group at ETH I was a Research Fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society, affiliated with the RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. Prior to that I held numerous research positions at the University of Bristol, working with projects such as REFrAMe, SPHERE and European Union's AI Research Excellence Centre TAILOR.

Peter Flach

Pieter Adriaan Flach (born 8 April 1961, Sneek) is a Dutch computer scientist and a Professor of Artificial Intelligence in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bristol. He is author of the acclaimed Simply Logical: Intelligent Reasoning by Example (John Wiley, 1994) and Machine Learning: the Art and Science of Algorithms that Make Sense of Data (Cambridge University Press, 2012).

Andrea Orlandini

Andrea Orlandini is a Researcher working at the Institute of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies (ISTC-CNR), in Rome. He got a degree in Computer Science Engineering and he received his PhD in 2006 defending the thesis "Logical Based Approaches to Artificial Intelligence Planning and Robot Control" at the Roma Tre University in Rome (Italy).

Neil Yorke-Smith

Neil Yorke-Smith directs the STAR Lab at TU Delft. His research addresses a fundamental question of the AI era: how can technology help people make decisions in complex socio-technical situations? Yorke-Smith is an Associate Professor of Socio-Technical Algorithmics in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS/EWI), Delft University of Technology.
