During the session, you will explore the structure of HPC systems, understand available resources, and learn practical techniques for navigating and using these environments effectively. The course highlights the differences and similarities among the VSC instances in Ghent and Leuven and the VIB Data Core.
Learning outcomes
- Identify differences and similarities among different HPC instances
- Access existing HPC structure in Flanders, including VSC and VIB Data Core
- Navigate and use different HPC environments (storage, analysis, and debug)
- Query and manage specific modules on the HPC
- Submit jobs to run software and scripts on the compute cluster
- Monitor and check information about submitted jobs

Bruna Piereck
Dra. Bruna Piereck behaalde een PhD in Moleculaire Genetica, met een focus op Bio-informatica aan de UFPE (Federale Universiteit van Pernambuco), Brazilië, in september 2019. Tijdens haar doctoraat kreeg ze de kans om samen te werken met de universiteit van Luxemburg waar ze een half jaar doorbracht, gevolgd door een verblijf van nog eens een half jaar aan de McGill universiteit in Quebec. Sinds maart 2022 maakt ze deel uit van het Technology Training team bij VIB. Sinds haar masteropleiding is ze betrokken bij het lesgeven in verschillende cursussen voor bachelor-, master- en PhD-studenten.
