Kurt Barbé

Kurt Barbé (Senior Member, IEEE) received the master’s degree in mathematics and the Ph.D. degree in engineering from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Brussels, Belgium, in 2005 and 2009, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor with the research group Biostatistics and Medical Informatics (BISI), VUB, where he is founder of the university core facility SQUARE providing support for quantitative studies. He is also scientific collaborator at the University Hospital (UZ-B) at the department of Radiotherapy. Finally he is member of the Brussels AI-lab and the UZ-B research group on Artificially Intelligence Supported Modeling in Clinical Sciences (AIMS).

Barbé’s research interests include numerical methods for time series analysis as well as machine learning methods for massive and high dimensional data problems. His research is applied to various medical applications in both preclinical biomedical as well as clinical sciences.
