Automated detection of political trends and vaccine skepticism from social media text
Advances in Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology have allowed for automatically extracting public attitudes from large-scale social media text. In this webinar, we present state-of-the-art resources developed at the University of Antwerp for detecting prevailing sentiments towards prominent political topics, as well as the argumentations underlying vaccine skepticism.

Pieter Fivez
Pieter Fivez holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Antwerp, focusing on machine learning of semantic representations of biomedical text. He currently works as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Antwerp, where he coordinates the Antwerp Text Mining Centre (TEXTUA).
