Extremum seeking in control: Methods, Theory and Application

25 mrt. 2023 - 27 mrt. 2023

Martin Guay is a Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at Queen’s University (Canada). He received his PhD from Queen’s University in 1996 and his research interests include extremum-seeking control, nonlinear model predictive control, adaptive estimation and control, and geometric control. Dr Guay has received several awards, including the Syncrude Innovation Award, the D.G. Fisher Award from the Canadian Society of Chemical Engineers, and the Premier Research Excellence Award. He serves as a Senior Editor for IEEE Control Systems Letters and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Process Control, and also as an Associate Editor for Automatica, the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, the Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, and Nonlinear Analysis: Hybrid Systems.

Denis Dochain received his degrees in electrical engineering from the Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium. He has held positions at various institutions including the Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal and Queen's University, and is currently a Full Professor at UCLouvain. Dr Dochain has published over 160 papers and co-authored five books on topics such as nonlinear systems, parameter and state estimation, and adaptive extremum seeking control. He serves as Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Process Control, Senior Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, and Associate Editor for Automatica. He is an IFAC Fellow and received the IFAC Outstanding Service Award in 2008.
