Tomas Folens

I am a researcher, lecturer in both Dutch and English (KULeuven and VIVES), and coach (ICF certified) with a background in ethics and education. My work focuses on AI ethics, digital transformation, AI literacy and responsible innovation, with particular attention to how technological systems shape human agency and organisations. I am involved in applied research projects at the intersection of AI governance, data ethics, and organisational change, often in collaboration with SMEs, public organisations, and European consortia. My expertise includes (ethical) frameworks for AI adoption, value-aligned design, stakeholder-centred decision-making, and the integration of ethical reflection into concrete innovation processes and into governance.
