Teacher / speaker

Meet Prof. Dr. Simon Geiregat, a dedicated full-time lecturer specialising in intellectual property law. His primary focus lies in the intricacies of copyright and neighbouring rights law, complemented by publications on trade mark law and on consumer protection and commercial practices. Prof. Geiregat's passion extends to addressing the evolving challenges posed by digitalisation in private law, with a keen interest in the ongoing debates surrounding artificial intelligence and the "ownership" of non-personal data.

Together with Prof. Vanhees, Prof. Geiregat leads the research institution GIPL (Ghent IP Law Institute).
