Context

What is sustainable AI and how do you make sure your system is sustainable? This session explains what sustainable AI means by looking at it as a part of our environment. The question then becomes, how does this system contribute to the quality of a living environment and the people who live or work in it? What can be done to reduce negative impacts?

Specifically, in this session, you will learn to operationalise the SDGs, dwell on the energy consumption of AI, and how to make data more sustainable.

Learning objective(s)

  • To come up with some strategies to develop sustainable AI according to a definition that fits your organization.

Content

A staff member of the Knowledge Centre Data & Society will explain a number of assessment tools based on some cases and best practices. With those assessment tools, you can start thinking of strategies for your organisation in order to develop more sustainable AI systems.

Course of 2 hours, with the possibility of extension according to the purpose and target audience.
