Natural Language Processing (NLP) deals with the interactions between humans and machines and establishes the link between computers and natural language. The idea is that the computer is able to process and understand language data, both written text and speech. The aim is to accurately digest the information in language and text, without losing the nuances and context.
Learning outcomes
Participants:
- have a better understanding of the use of AI on language data.
- gain insight into the underlying language models used in speech and text analysis.

NLP has a wide range of possible applications and is used in all sectors to make work easier. The benefits speak for themselves. Computers operate 24/7, do not make mistakes due to fatigue or distraction, and can process large amounts of information in no time.
The technology is in constant evolution and more and more becomes possible in subdomains such as text recognition (also in less obvious cases such as recognition of handwritten texts, or formatted text that is part of a complex layout), text categorization, automatic speech recognition and detection and analysis of sentiment and emotions.

All courses have a theoretical component dealing with the possibilities
and developments in the domain, as well as an optional hands-on session
in which participants can gain (a first) hands-on experience with
existing tools.
