Learning Trajectory on Generative AI for Professionals in Higher Education
This is a suggestion for a learning trajectory on generative AI, targeted at professionals working in higher education (e.g., researchers, lecturers, administrative and technical staff, policymakers). The learning modules were carefully selected by VAIA to create a holistic and realistic starting point for educating this target group on GenAI. This trajectory gets updated regularly!

About project Blueprint
VAIA and VLIR’s ad hoc working group on generative AI offer this Blueprint to all Flemish universities and colleges for free. Do you wish to book a learning module for your institution's in-house training offer? Then you can contact the teachers directly and set up your own pricing and timing arrangements with them. Furthermore, feel free to use this Blueprint as inspiration to have in-house modules developed by your own research groups and expertise centers. VAIA can also be a partner in this: case by case, we are happy to discuss how we can support, connect, and disseminate, and – if desired – which new modules we can include in a next update of the Blueprint. If the training is also of interest to professionals other than your own employees, then the courses can be advertised on vaia.be.

The first edition of the Blueprint (September 2024) came about bottom-up after parallel requests from several universities to VAIA and an ad hoc working group on generative AI of VLIR. Note that the topics, learning modules, and providers listed below are not the only options: this is only a sample of the wide range of lifelong learning on AI, selected based on previous collaborations with VAIA as well as the fast availability of the providers to develop and teach these courses. Moreover, this trajectory gets updated regularly. We always welcome input, feedback and additions. Let this Blueprint be a starting point for a fruitful, dynamic collaboration!
Distribution of the trajectory
The Blueprint offer clearly found its way into Flemish higher education: since September 2024, 60 sessions were booked, at 6 different universities and colleges. We reached 810 participants with the courses! Some modules were in such high demand that institutions scheduled them multiple times to meet their staff's interest. Also, several institutions gave us feedback, which we took into account to update the trajectory. Teamwork makes the dream work!
